'An Inconvenient Truth' Sequel to Debut at Sundance
“Now more than ever we must rededicate ourselves to solving the climate crisis”
The sequel to Al Gore’s 2006 documentary about climate change, An Inconvenient Truth, will debut at Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 19.
The film, directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, will hit theaters in 2017, Variety reports. It follows the former Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize winner as he continues his global fight to make people aware of climate change.
“Now more than ever we must rededicate ourselves to solving the climate crisis,” Gore said in a statement. “But we have reason to be hopeful; the solutions to the crisis are at hand.”
The sequel joins Sundance’s New Climate program, which showcases films and projects about conservation and environmental change.
An Inconvenient Truth, which premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, followed Gore as he informed audiences about global warming. The film won two Academy Awards for best documentary feature and best original song.
